Valerian root calms and treats insomnia. Take two and if you do not notice a change, take two more. Only hour before bedtime….works like a charm.

I’m adding this for people like me who were so desperate to sleep that they are beyond home remedies. I did everything and was still up all night. Literally. No matter how tired I was, I just couldn’t sleep. After a lot of doctors and analysis we’ve determined that my sleep/wake cycle is virtually backwards. It’s something that can’t really be changed naturally. Many people have just gotten into bad routines that have led to insomnia, but SOME were born with it. I was one.

If that’s the case, please see a doctor. They aren’t going to send you to do a sleep study. I personally think a psychiatrist is the best choice simply because they know of the largest variety of drugs available. They aren’t going to insist you go to talk therapy if you don’t want to go. I’ve tried numerous sleep medications. A lot require 7-8 hours of sleep. But Seroquel literally saved my life.

The things I do do to try and fall asleep are the following: stick to a routine at night.
Don’t expect to fall asleep sooner than I’ll be able to. If I have to get up earlier than usual, I still know I won’t miraculously fall asleep at 9pm the night before. If I go to bed and try to sleep I’ll just drive myself crazy. So even if I have to wake up earlier I don’t go to bed much earlier. Maybe 20 minutes.
Don’t insist on having everything planned out for the morning. I used to think it’d be easier to sleep if I had the next morning planned out. If I had my clothes picked out, my bag packed, etc., but in reality it actually made me have anxiety and made it harder to sleep. So instead I woke up 5-10 minutes ear,ire and just did all that stuff in the morning.
Make it okay to take a nap. Sometimes it’s a lot easier to fall asleep and wake up the next morning knowing you can nap the next day. Even if you end up not having time to nap, giving yourself the option takes some stress away the night before.
If you’re exhausted one day and need to sleep in on a weekend, do it. I know they say it messes up your schedule, but if you really need the rest once in a while, get it when you can. It also helps me fall asleep when I think to myself ‘in 3 days I can sleep in.’


I can get insomnia for hours on end. Sleepy time tea, a peanut butter sandwich and 3 games of solitaire while ingesting these….NEVER HAS FAILED ME.


First of sleep is a God giving thing I’m going to try summarize my remedy I take prescription drugs because I have insomnia most likley from anxiety panic attack medicine…I smoke ciggarettes and. Its well known. that ciggaretes make. It 10 times harder to sleep so u smoke stop smoking couple hrs before sleeping and EXERT energy exerrsize ur mind and body throuout the day try to stay away from exessive cafiene ect…could keep on going but every problime has a solution:)


1) Drink more water.

2) Just relax let all the thought go and repeat these verses,

‘May I be well and happy,
May all be well and happy’

Most people will fall asleep within 5 minutes. Very Few people needs 30 mintes


Hello. I hhve had trouble getting to sleep recently, and have decided i would share my methods with you (1-10 depening on wht imost effective for me).

#1. I list things. Say you know a lot about or lot of birds. List them, parrot, robin…

#2. I watch the patterns when i close my eyes. You know how whenyou lose your eyes you’ll see colors or patterns? That’s what i mean, just dont strain to see them.

#3. Think happy thoughts.

The most important thing is to relax and stay calm. If you get worked up, sleep wont come as easily. Also TRY to avoid medicine. I know it helps, but you could get hooked on it or rely on itif taken too much


When I can’t sleep I take a shower and sleep with my hair still damp. It works for me and everyone I have told that’s tried it says it works too(:

read a book, if its boring, you will wake up with your light still on, wearing your glasses!!! and having lost the page you were reading!!!

day dream you have won the lottery..spend it as you would like to spend it…the options are wonderful and rewarding.makes you feel so good.

both of these work for me i never have trouble going to sleep..i always wake round about 5am but i love having that time of day to myself. listen to the birdsong have a great cuppa t.

next best option if you are lucky enough to have a partner…..good sex or at least lots of practise!!!!


Masterbation. An orgasm is a great way to relax and get into sleep mode. It sounds vulger and makes a lot of people uncomfortable, but it really does the trick!
