Hey I know this is weird but my kips got very chapped and one day it got infected and it was burning and flaking and so dry it hurt so bad so I put bio oil on it and my lips feel pretty good after that

Sophie

It’s not really a home remedy, but the Blistex original lip conditioner, it comes in a little pot and it works amazingly! I had really dry, sore and red lips and this is the only thing that worked. 🙂

Hi all! I make a home peppermint lip scrub that is amazing for getting rid of the dead skin and softening my lips! It is just coconut oil, honey, sugar, and peppermint oil! The link is:

TEA TREE OIL – this stuff is an instant miracle. My lips were severely dry, rough and flakey. Cover your lips with it, let it absorb a little, and the roughness will slough off gently using a wet towel. After the roughness is gone, then you can use a lip balm to keep them soft. If your lips are just sore, sleep with a generous amount over your lips. When you wake up, they will be healed.

Step 1 – Drink water.
Step 2 – Exfoliate lips with a wet toothbrush.
Step 3 – Slather on Vaseline Lip Therapy Rosy Lips.

My lips have never been softer.

My lips were the same as everyone else has said. And tried all of these suggestions for managing it. But the thing it stumbled on the PREVENTED it, was Vitamin B12.
I read that Vitamin B12 deficiencies can cause chapped lips. And one of the reasons was over use of antacids. I had had atom he issues for years and was taking those daily (have since discovered it was food sensitivities).
My lips are now, as my husband says ‘kissable’

apply a little bit of lotion on chapped area, let it sit for 1-5 minutes, then gently rub off the lotion with a washcloth with warm water. do this every morning and night until your lips are healed. be sure not to swallow the lotion.

Put two teaspoons of sugar in a bowl, and one teaspoon of honey. Mix well and put onto chapped, dry, flaky lips. Rub off with warm water after about 10-20 mins.. Works instantly =D

I have had chapped, red, dry lips that have been hurting for a while. I went on a lot of websites, couldn’t find the same thing. So, my Dad bought me Burt’s Bees Ultra Moisturizing lip treatment. It comes in a tube. Put on pure petrolatum jelly, let it sit on you lips for 20 minutes, and the put on the Burt’s Bees lip moisturizer. The moisturizer has everything, lanolin, castor oil, beeswax, honey… And after you put on the petrolatum jelly and lip moisturizer, you will feel GREAT! Hope I helped.

I had severely burning, flaking, tender, itchy & sore lips. Even the skin around my lips was painful, dry, itchy, stinging and flaky. I tried everything (Chapstick $1 to Clinique $24) until I read the remedies on here. I tried two things which successfully worked for me. I can add that they are also pretty inexpensive (Walmart). One is the nipple cream which provided immediate relief. Lansinoh was suggested but it was sold out and I ended up buying Medela-it still worked. I also tried Aquaphor healing ointment (not the lip balm-it burned) which also worked as far as keeping the lip area moisturized but it didn’t seem to feel quite as soothing as the nipple butter with its immediate relief of the burning and itching. Whew-I feel better-no more pain. Who knew?

Ok, so for the past few weeks I have not wanted to step outside because my lips were terrible. It wasn’t just my lips, the areas around it were red and ugly.

So, I mixed some brown sugar and olive oil into a tiny cup until it was pasty. Then, I got a pinch of it and rubbed it gently on my lips for around 2 minutes. Then, I patted water on to clean them. (And patted them dry)
Afterwards I applied whatever good lip balm I could find. My lips were great 5 minutes after, and feel nice too. Try it out!

I’ve had dry chapped sunburnt feeling lips for about 2 weeks, darkened by dead skin…… My fave product is Calendula cream as I like to feel the tingling feeling when I put it on and know it’s doing something…….
Okay, this time, it wasn’t……. Even bought a barrier cream as I refused to use Vaseline…… Can’t bear it….. So…. Even barrier cream wasn’t being efficient enough……. Found this home remedies pages of many ideas, tried the cucumber and placed it on my lips for about 20 mins, rubbing it all over my lips, gently squeezing more juices out of it….. Then, thick honey that had crystallised and rubbed on my lips, gently rubbing sugar into lips…… Then, get your toothbrush, gr8 if it’s an electric one and do slow circles all over the problem bits of the lips, for about 2 mins, then apply the honey again…… And amazingly, I felt the honey sinking into my lips this time, ….then I waited again and applied Calendula Cream, which really tingled this time, and then the Barrier cream which is very thick……. In the morning…….new lips…. Plenty of water……..and if having trouble agai, the cucumber is King…….

I had severe chapped lips for over a month. Redness, stinging, peeling, it was painful and I was embarrassed to be in public! I tried tons of different lip products but nothing worked. Finally, in desperation I put on some hand cream that I usually use for dry elbows. After about a day my lips looked and felt so much better! It’s Burts Bees almond milk beeswax hand creme. It comes in a little jar with a cow on top. When I first started using it it burned for a few seconds but quickly went away. The burning sensation was less every time I used it, as my lips healed. I have been using it for 5 months so I’m sure it’s safe. I tried to stop using it for a few days and used other products but my lips quickly became dry and chapped again. This is the only product that seems to work for me! Hope this helps others with the same problem.

I had been having severely chapped, cracked and nearly bleeding lips for the past two months, which I only get during the winter. It was so bad that I have spent all day, every day the past two months peeling away at my lips, which is quite embarassing while at work. I tried all types of chapstick, Vaseline (100% pure petroleum jelly), even put facial lotion and body lotion on my lips–none worked. I resorted to using lip gloss to hide how chapped my lips were, but the dryness had gotten to both edges of my lips and putting gloss there just looked silly. Think glossy-Joker smile.

I followed another person’s advice and used Aquaphor Healing Ointment and it worked immediately–what sorcery is this???! My lips feel so much better and are starting to visibly heal after just one night…I feel like after a week my lips will be fully restored using this. It lasts a long time and totally moisturizes..and while the substance feels thick, doesnt make your lips look overly glossy. I’m now a forever fan of this product!

As absurd as it sounds, the one cure and preventative I have found is nipple care cream, the kind you use during breast feeding. My brand of choice is Bepanthen.
