Home remedies using steam

1) Breathe steam. You can do that just by taking a hot shower, of course. Or pour steaming-hot water into a bowl and lean over it, draping a towel over your head. Inhaling the steam will help loosen the secretions in your lungs.

2) To make the steam treatment even more effective, add a few drops of eucalyptus or pine oil to the water. Eucalyptus helps to soften mucus in obstructed airways and has some antibacterial properties. (If you want to use eucalyptus leaves, simply boil them in a pot of water, then remove from the heat and inhale the steam.) Pine oil acts as an expectorant, so it will help you ‘bring up’ phlegm from the bronchial tubes.

3) Run a humidifier in your bedroom when you’re sleeping to moisten the air you breathe. But be sure to follow the manufacturer’s directions for cleaning the humidifier. Otherwise, bacteria and mold can accumulate in the works.

4) If you have an ultrasound, cool-mist humidifier, add the contents of a one-pint bottle of 3\\% hydrogen peroxide and a quarter-cup of water. The hydrogen peroxide works to thin mucus and may even help get the infection under control. You can leave the humidifier running day and night so you’re constantly breathing in the vapours.

Natural ways to thin mucus

1) To thin mucus and help you cough it up more easily, drink lots of water‘at least eight 250-mL glasses each day. And avoid alcohol and caffeinated drinks, which dehydrate your system and make the mucus tougher to dislodge.

2) Eat chile peppers, hot spicy salsa, or dishes prepared with cayenne pepper. Fiery foods don’t just make your nose run’they also thin the mucus in your lungs, helping you cough more productively.

3) Drink mullein tea. Mullein, a traditional folk remedy for respiratory ailments, offers another way to clear mucus from your lungs. It contains saponins, which help loosen phlegm, along with a gelatinous mucilage that soothes raw mucous membranes. Boil a cup of water, remove from the heat, and drop in two teaspoons dried mullein leaves. Let the tea steep for 10 minutes, then strain out the wet leaves and drink the tea. You can drink up to three cups a day.

4)Avoid milk products. Cow’s milk contains lactalbumin, which stimulates the production of mucus in the upper and lower respiratory tract and in the intestines. (Young calves, with four stomachs, need this extra mucus to help protect their intestinal tracts from strong stomach acids…but you don’t!) When humans drink cow’s milk, the result is excessive mucus production.

Lemon and Ginger tea. works like a charm all the time, cuts your bronchitis down by weeks. it might be gross and i dont even like drinking tea but this has helped get rid of my bronchitis on many occasions

I get bronchitis once or twice every year. My mother has shown me how to make tea that works.
1 lemon
1 or 2 bags of your Favorite Tea (I use Yogi or Traditional Medicine)
Whiskey or Brandy
(optional) peppermint oil (maximum: 2 drops!!)
First, add your water, tea bags, and honey to your cup. I use a mug. Brew the tea as hot as you can stand it in your microwave or on the stove. When finished, add the juice of the lemon and 2 teaspoons of the whiskey or brandy. Mix well. Drink the whole cup. Cuddle up with a blanket and a book,a pillow, or a TV remote. Sleep and cough the stuff up. Good Luck! 🙂

Grandma’s Homemade Remedy For Asthma, Bronchitis, Cough & Lung Diseases

Many people suffer from various diseases or disorders such as asthma, bronchitis and various types of cough. Various allergies, infections or smoking itself may be the main reason for the occurrence of a certain types of lungs diseases or disorders.

Fortunately our grandparents have a great knowledge of natural medicine. In the past, they prepared various home remedies for asthmatic diseases, especially cardiac and bronchial.

Remedy for Asthma – Honey and Red Onion

These remedies have a great healing power. They know the best remedy for asthma, bronchitis and various types of cough.

1 lb. (½ kg) red organic onions.
1 lb. (½ kg) brown dark sugar.
6 cups (1,5 l) water.
2 lemons.
7 tbsp. of raw organic honey (molasses for vegans).

Note. Use sugar only during the treatment. It is unhealthy, you know 😉

How to prepare:

Preheat the sugar in a metal bowl on a moderate temperature, stirring constantly until it melts and gets red color. Then add the onion, chopped into small pieces. Cook it shortly and pour water into the bowl.

Boil the mixture until 1/3 of the water evaporates (on a moderate temperature). After that, leave the mixture to cool down and then add the lemon juice and honey. Stir well, pour the mixture in the glass jar and leave it overnight.

How to consume:

Consume the entire dose of the mixture, 1 tablespoon before each meal. Repeat it until your lungs get well. For children, it is recommended one teaspoon of this remedy, also before each meal.

If your bronchitis is strong and could not breath take EPO IRA in yoruba dialect sorry I do not know the medical name of this herb, if you are in Nigeria just walk to elewe omo and ask for ‘epo’ira’ you will be happy you do. If you can get the fresh one you can eat it or soak it in water; for me I eat it and it gives great relieve. you can give the agbo fresh or cooked (soaked one)

For bronchitis
Mix equal parts of whiskey, fresh lemon or lime juice, raw honey. Shake well. Add 3 drops eucalyptus oil, 2 tsp. hot red or white pepper, 2 tsp. fresh cinnamon, 3 tsp. fresh tumeric, 1 Tbsp. slippery elm bark powder. My grandmother added 12 drops of Holy Water. Shake well. Take a spoonful as needed. It’ll work better than any OTC expectorant. Tastes nasty, so don’t worry about the whiskey unless you can’t have alcohol.

Thyme and Oregano tea. Half a teaspoon each, raw honey is also very useful.
Thyme- has thymol in it, this is a natural biocide useful in combating fungal infections as well as bacterial infections.
Oregano-Oregano is high in antioxidant activity, due to a high content of phenolic acids and flavonoids. Also contains carvacrol and thymol both being biocides similar in action to thyme.
Raw honey- contains enzymes and methylglyoxal. The enzymes have shown to be affective in helping damaged tissues heal. The methylglyoxal is an antibacterial.
The antioxidants increase the number of mitochondria in the cells thus allowing cells to generate more energy and heal faster. These also support immune function and prevent damage to cells thus aiding in the healing process.

A combination of natural remedies is suggested, since the effects are compounded and the bacteria and fungi that cause these maladies have a much more difficult time fighting it or adapting to it. Also when combining multiple home remedies they can be as affective or more affective than prescription medication. Plus you save a lot.

I’ve had a dreadful case of bronchitis for first time in my life recently. The cough has been so severe I would almost throw up.I am normally fit and of a health weight so this really threw me off balance.I became intensely exhausted too and I didn’t feel able to fight the infection off.
I was abroad when it started so i didn’t have access to natural treatments straight away so I struggled with paracetamol and conventional cough syrup for about a week which did not help.As soon as I reached London is tarted taking the following three treatments concomittently.
1-xylitol granules-this is well know as antiviral and antibacterial and can be used dissolved in water as a throat spray too,but I just had it as it comes. You can get this from any natural remedy shop like holland and barrett.
2-strong garlic capsules and also fresh garlic with my evening meal-no I am not worried about garlic breath for now because my health has taken such a battering.
3-a homeopathic remedy from boots that’s specific for coughs and cheesiness.
As soon as I started this treatment my troublesome cough almost went away within 24 hours after struggling to shift it for weeks.I tried other remedies but nothing worked as well as these.I cannot recommend these enough,I really feel a huge difference and my chest feels clear as opposed to itchy and raspy.
I also had fresh crushed ginger tea with manuka honey and lemon, lots of green tea,an excellent nutrition with veg, fruit and probiotics plus spirulina powder alongside taking a string multimineral and vitamins tonic. But like I said, nothing worked as fast as what I mentioned and I kept slipping in and out of getting a bit better but relapsing again with coughing and exhaustion. But this time I’ve had three days of almost not coughing at all. It’s not a coincidence because just before starting these three remedies together I was going to go to my doctor to ask for an asthma pump because I was still struggling to breathe during coughing fits which were refusing to go away.
Hope you get well really soon if you’re reading this and struggling with bronchitis. It really is a deep infection and it takes time to rest and recover whilst also using remedies.
