Adele has revealed that she quit smoking because she feared it would kill her.
She said: “If I’d carried on smoking I’d probably have died from a smoking-related illness and I think that’s really bad.
“If I was dying from lung cancer I would have potentially given it to myself and that wouldn’t be something I’d be proud of.”
Adele had been smoking 25 cigarettes a day when she had to cancel shows in 2011 after losing her voice.
And after an operation doctors told her that her career could be over if she did not stop smoking.
Her dad, Marc Evans, 53, has also had bowel cancer.
They are believed to have mended their stormy relationship and got back together during his battle against the disease.
Adele had a £295 session with Harley Street hypnotist Susan Hepburn in 2014 in an attempt to give up for good.
A source said at the time: ‘Adele has tried to quit, but the cravings kept getting the better of her. She wants to get back in the studio.’
She has said in the past: ‘If I wasn’t a singer I would still be smoking 25-a-day. It’s my favourite thing to do.’
Along with ditching her cigarette habit, Adele – who has a three-year-old son, Angelo – has been hitting the gym and embarking on a healthier lifestyle.
In an interview with the Rolling Stone, she revealed she’s cut back on sugar and works out regularly.
